Received Into the OPC

Posted by on May 6, 2015 in News

This past Sunday evening, May 3, we were formally received into the Midwest Presbytery of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. I was installed as the pastor of the church, and several members of the Midwest Presbytery and two nearby OPC congregations (Christ OPC in St. Charles, MO and Gateway OPC in Town and Country, MO) joined us for the special service and celebration. This service was the culmination of a year-long odyssey of transferring from one denomination to another. God has cared for us, protected us, and shepherded us through the entire process. We believe that the OPC will be a...

This past Friday, March 20, 2015, we were received as a congregation into the Midwest Presbytery of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. We are joining with the thirty-six OPC congregations that are scattered throughout Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. The installation service for our church has yet to be scheduled, but we are already incorporating many of the distinctive beliefs and practices of this fine denomination into the life of our congregation. In particular, we are working toward the establishment of local church government in our church with the ordination of...

Trip to Geneva

Posted by on Jul 19, 2014 in News

During late May and early June my wife and I had the opportunity to travel to Geneva, Switzerland! This coming September 15th we are gearing-up to start our second pastoral intern program. So far there is one young man whom we have accepted into the program—and that is Peter Bringe of Elizabeth, CO. There is still time for interested applicants to inquire about the details of our internship. Contact Dr. Marcus Serven if you would like to know more. We will close off the application process on August 1st. Just recently, Randy Winton—father of Cody Winton, one of our previous interns—wrote a testimony about how he and his family felt about the pastoral internship. Randy wrote, Our son Cody...

Pastoral Internship

Posted by on Jul 24, 2012 in News

On September 16th we officially begin our pastoral intern program at Covenant Family Church. After much preparation and planning we have selected two young men—Joel Stanton and Cody Winton—who will join us for eight months of hands-on ministry experience and theological training. Interestingly enough, both young men are from California. These two interns desire to learn more about what it means to serve God as future pastors. With this in mind, we will encourage them to test their personal call to ministry and to use their gifts in supervised ministry amongst us. What is our motive for doing...
