Who Owns the World?

It is good for Christians to recall that God actually owns the world. This fact never changes throughout earth history, and even though the evil one has some temporary influence over the events of men the sovereign plan of God always prevails (Proverbs 16:4; Romans 8:28). One of the most difficult issues in human relationships is forgiving an offense (cf. Gen. 32-33; Prov. 18:19). This is true for unbelievers in the world, and it is also true for believers within Christ’s Church. Christians, though, have a distinct advantage over those who remain in the world—we have the gracious example of the Lord Jesus Christ who forgave us so much (cf. Eph. 4:32; 1 Pet. 2:24-25; 3:18). What does the Bible say about itself? To me, this is an extremely important question because the texts that can be produced demonstrate the very strong foundation that our faith rests upon. In short, we believe that the Bible is authoritative, infallible, inerrant, inspired, and sufficient to answer all of life’s fundamental questions.
