“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed,
for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9

Please join us for the Men’s Advance on Feb. 28—Mar. 1, 2014 with Scott Brown and Marcus Serven speaking on the theme of “Manly Courage.” What is it that will help a Christian man to uphold his faith and fulfill his responsibilities when it is unpopular to be identified as a Christian? In dark and dangerous times we believe that God will faithfully give us “Manly Courage” when we most need it.

Specifically, the talks that will be given at this year’s conference will focus on….

“The Courage to Believe in God’s Covenant” (Serven) — What is the basis for our courage? Where do we get our hope? In the end, looking to ourselves sets us up for disappointment. Faith in our covenant-keeping God and His promises is vital for true courage and covenant-keeping on our part.

“The Courage to Order Your Personal Life” (Brown) — Though it might not seem so at first, some of the truest tests of courage happen in the “little” things of our personal lives. What marks the character of a courageous Christian man? How does he submit himself to God and God’s ways?

“The Courage to Lovingly Lead Your Family” (Brown) — Christian men need to provide leadership for their family. Self-centeredness, though, can cause men to be tyrannical or apathetic. What are a man’s responsibilities in shepherding his wife and children? The wordily view of men is that it is OK to be self-absorbed. The Christian, though, recognizes that it is the coward that shrinks from his duty.

“The Courage to Loyally Serve Christ’s Church” (Serven) — In case anybody was wondering, serving the church takes hard work and courage. Relationships can be difficult and risky at times. Will we, as Christian men, have the courage to make commitments to one another and thereby uphold God’s vision for his church?

“The Courage to Stand For Christ in Your World” (Brown) — The Christian man has an opportunity to proclaim Jesus Christ in all the primary spheres of his life—extended family, workplace, neighborhood, local community, and world. As Christian men will we have the courage to firmly stand for Christ and the teachings of the Bible in this fallen world, even if this means personal rejection or persecution?

“The Courage to Trust God for Your Future” (Serven) — Many things cause men to worry about the future. Responsibilities can weigh heavily upon them, and courage can fail where hope is lacking. Yet God will not fail us, and even if we go through “hard times” we can be confident that God will never leave us or forsake us.

We also plan on having small group discussions after each session and a question and answer time at the end of the conference on Saturday. I would invite you join us for this encouraging time. If you haven’t yet registered, now is a great time to do so.
