Judgment and Deliverance: Part 2

Text: Micah 2:1-13

There are several activities that the Lord truly hates: “haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” (Proverbs 6:16-19).

In this passage we witness at least five of these heinous activities amongst the people of God. This is shocking! They should know better! Yet, they pursue their own peace, prosperity, and personal happiness irregardless of the people who are injured as a result.

The Lord will not leave injustices such as these unaddressed (Micah 2:3; Galatians 6:7). He clearly instructs us, “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27).

This is our calling and our privilege as the people of God. Let us resolve then, as a godly remnant, to live by the values of our true Father and serve him no matter what persecution may come our way.
