2012 was a wake-up year for conservatives all across America.  The results of the 2012 elections left many of them in shock.  Slowly, the realization dawned on them that America had entered a new age; an age where classic conservatism would not save America.

Ever since the 1950’s, Americans have lost a view of working and planning for their children and grandchildren’s good.  Today, we live in a culture that is dominated by selfishness and materialism.  This is demonstrated by the fact that hundreds of thousands of babies are aborted in our country simply because they are “an inconvenience”.

With young men not growing up till their thirty’s, the birthrate imploding, the worker to retiree ratio rapidly becoming unsustainable, debt increase, uncontrolled monetary inflation, etc., it is clear that America is heading towards a period of intense upheaval and uncertainty; possibly a new “dark age”.

The Dark Ages in Europe were actually pioneer years for Christians as missionaries were sent and churches were formed all over Europe.  The installation of Christendom would not have been possible were it not for this period of seeming chaos and darkness.  God used the so-called “Dark Ages” to sow seeds and set up foundations for the victory of His Kingdom over paganism.  This is what gives us hope.  God uses the future years of uncertainty and chaos to purify His Church and expand the Kingdom of God more and more.

“In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul. My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.” – Isaiah 26:8-9

“For behold, the Lord is coming out from his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity” – Isaiah 26:21

We need a radical change of our views about education and discipleship.  The time and effort we invest into these relationships and systems will pay off more than anything else we do.  Our sons will be facing the best opportunities presented by the worst of circumstances.  Will they be ready?  Will fathers do whatever it takes to disciple their children to be the men and women God has called them to be?

Every father should seriously consider whether his family has grown in their faith this year compared to last year?  They must be praying fervently, “O Lord, increase my faith!”.  Only strong faith will enable us to imitate our forefathers in the faith, men of whom Hebrews 11 spoke of,

“Who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.” – Hebrews 11:33-34
