Mr. Bruce Stahl (Ruling Elder) is on loan to us by the Presbytery of the Midwest until we raise-up our own ordained ruling elders. Bruce has served as a Ruling Elder at Gateway OPC in Town and Country, MO. He and his wife Barbara are parents of five grown children. Bruce has a great love for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church and is helping us in preparing our future church leaders as well as by providing local church leadership for us at CFC. He currently oversees our church records as the Stated Clerk.
Rev. Christian McShaffrey serves as a ministerial advisor for our congregation while we are searching for a new full-time minister. He is the pastor of Grace Reformed Church (OPC) in Reedsburg, WI.
Mr. Peter Bringe just recently finished his B.A. program in Bible and Theology (Summa Cum Laude) from Whitefield College and has now entered the M.Div. program at Covenant Theological Seminary here in St. Louis. He completed our pastoral internship program in May, 2014 and continues to be mentored here at Covenant Family Church and serves the church as a deacon. In addition, Peter has strong interests in theology, hunting, art (music, food, poetry, etc…), studying all types of history, and reenacting the frontier life of early America. Peter is married to Melody and they have now been blessed with their first child.
Mr. Tim Heger oversees our efforts in fellowship, hospitality, and logistics. Tim and his wife RoseAnn are the parents of six rambunctious boys whom they educate at home. They enjoy the country life immensely and encourage the rediscovery of all aspects of healthy living. Tim serves as a deacon, and is a careful student of the Bible and the Westminster Confession of Faith. He is a graduate of Rankin Technical College and works in the heating and air conditioning industry.
Mr. Jeff Hamann holds a B.E.E. degree from Georgia Tech and is currently working towards an M.Div. degree from Whitefield Theological Seminary. He has a strong interest in biblical theology and Christian doctrine. Jeff helps us by coordinating our efforts in caring for the needy, outreach and evangelism, weekly Bible teaching, occasional exhortation, taking minutes, and encouraging support for missions. He and his wife Angie live in the country where they are raising their six children. Jeff works as an Oracle database administrator.
Our Pastor Emeritus:
Rev. Dr. Marcus J. Serven has been a Presbyterian minister for close to thirty-seven years (licensed in 1980, ordained in 1981, retired in 2016). He has served as the pastor of Covenant Family Church (OPC) in Troy, Missouri near its founding until October 2, 2016. Marcus and his wife Cheryl are blessed with nine children, six of whom are now married, and ten grandchildren. The Servens are dedicated home-educators and have done so for over thirty years.
Pastor Serven delights in telling the remarkable stories of God’s providence in classroom lectures, sermons, and historical articles (www.genevanfoundation.com). His doctoral dissertation on the pastoral theology of John Calvin was finished in January, 2012. Dr. Serven has earned degrees from the University of California at Davis, B.A.; Fuller Theological Seminary, M.Div.; and Covenant Theological Seminary, Th.M. and D.Min. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Calvin Studies Society. The Serven family now resides in Austin, TX—but maintains a close relationship with the people and ministry of Covenant Family Church.
